MIDWEST CITY — A new fitness center is open for Rose State College students, faculty and staff.

"You can not be as mentally fit as you can be until you are physically fit,” Rose State College President Terry Britton said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The 10,000-square-foot Rose State College Wellness Center, which used to be the school's gymnasium, houses a weight room, a cardio room, aerobic area, a basketball court, three multipurpose areas and three classrooms.

The Wellness Center will allow the college to offer more academic programs, increase campus intramural sports and offer various health related workshops and luncheons for the community. It is fully equipped with state-of-the-art cardiovascular and strength training equipment, including treadmills, elliptical trainers, recumbent bikes, free-weight equipment and strength equipment.

The facility is free to students, faculty and full-time staff. A limited number of community memberships are also available. For more information, call 733-7350.
