The New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter is opening his new Flatiron gym, called 24 Hour Fitness – Derek Jeter, on June 27, company officials said.

Jeter partnered with 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide to establish the national chain's first New York City health club, a 28,000-square-foot, full-service gym at 225 Fifth Avenue at 26th Street at Madison Square Park. 

Jeter's name will be on two other Manhattan 24 Hour Fitness gyms, a 31,000-square-foot gym at 600 Broadway, near Prince Street in Soho, to open at the end of the year, and another in the Citigroup Center at 153 East 53rd Street at Lexington Avenue (size to be determined), slated to open next June.

Pre-sale discounted memberships, which were launched following the February announcement of the venture, will be ending Thursday, said Charles Damiano, 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide's the East Coast market manager.

Damiano said that he is working on building another gym, not bearing the Jeter name, in Brooklyn, near Bensonhurst. The company Web site indicates there will be a Bronx gym coming to Fordham Road this winter.

The San Ramon, California-based fitness outfit, which has opened 425 clubs since its 1983 inception, has similar ventures with other sports legends including Shaquille O'Neal, Andre Agassi and Lance Armstrong.
